Cell Cycle Reporter Plasmids

The cell cycle includes four stages, Gap 1 (G1), Synthesis, Gap 2 (G2) and mitosis. It is a process that a cell replicates and divides into two identical cells. Fluorescence Ubiquitination Cell Cycle Indicator (FUCCI) technique has been used for cell cycle analysis, which is based on two cell cycle-regulated proteins, Cdt1 and geminin, fused to different fluorescent proteins. Cdt1 accumulates only in the G1 phase of the cell cycle while Geminin accumulates in the S/G2/M phases. As Cdt1 and geminin are present at different phases of the cell cycle, the fused fluorescent protein is also cell-cycle dependent.
