Fluorescent Protein Expression Plasmids

Fluorescent proteins are a class of proteins that have the ability to form internal chromophore without requiring accessory cofactors, enzymes or substrates. The mechanism of chromophore formation is considered to be similar, regardless of the origin. Fluorescent Proteins are approximately 25 kD in size. Since the first discovery of green fluorescent protein (GFP) Aequorea victoria jellyfish (phylum Cnidaria, class Hydrozoa) in the early 1960s, so far, more than 750 fluorescent proteins have been identified from a variety of species resulting in more spectral regions including blue, cyan, yellow, orange, red and far-red.

Fluorescent proteins have demonstrated invaluable tool in many thousands of experiments to monitor cellular processes in living systems using optical microscopy, confocal microscopy and related methodology. RGBiotech offers a large collection of plasmids for expressing different fluorescent proteins with a wide range of excitation and emission spectra to meet your projects. These plasmid vectors can be used in a wide range of applications which include in vitro cell labelling, in vivo imaging, monitoring cellular activities (optogenetics), studying protein-protein interactions (fluorescence resonance energy transfer, FRET), determining the subcellular localization of target protein, and monitoring cell cycle phasing in living cells (fluorescence ubiquitination cell cycle indicator, FUCCI) and so on.
