INTRODUCTION

Alpha-1-proteinase inhibitor (brand names Aralast, Glassia, Prolastin, Prolastin-C, Respreeza, Zemaira), also known as alpha1-PI or alpha1-antitrypsin (AAT), is derived from human plasma and is used in the treatment of emphysema.
