INTRODUCTION

Denileukin diftitox (brand name Ontak) is a recombinant cytotoxic fusion protein that links diphtheria toxin fragments and interleukin-2 (IL-2). Denileukin diftitox can bind to interleukin-2 receptors expressed in some leukemias, lymphomas and malignant cells, introduce the diphtheria toxin into target cells and kill them. Denileukin diftitox is used as an antineoplastic agent to treat cutaneous T-cell lymphoma.
