Stem bromelain (SBM) (brand name NexoBrid) is a proteolytic enzyme obtained from Ananas comosus. The therapeutic uses of Stem bromelain (SBM) include reversible inhibition of platelet aggregation, angina pectoris, bronchitis, sinusitis, surgical traumas, thrombophlebitis, pyelonephritis and enhanced absorption of antibiotics. Stem bromelain (SBM) has been approved by the EMA since 2012 and marketed under the brand name Nexobrid.
