INTRODUCTION

Anakinra (brand name Kineret) is a recombinant human interleukin-1 (IL-1) receptor antagonist (IL-1Ra) that is composed of 153 amino acids. Anakinra binds to human IL-1R and inhibits the activity of interleukin-1 (IL-1). Anakinra has been approved for use in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, neonatal-onset multisystem inflammatory disease and deficiency of interleukin-1 receptor antagonist (DIRA). Anakinara is also used in the treatment of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
