Site Specific Recombination Site-specific recombination, or site-directed recombination, is a process in which exchange of DNA segments takes place by breaking and rejoining the strands at specific points. Site-specific recombination is guided by site-specific recombinases (SSR) that recognize short, specific nucleotide sequences present on one or both of the recombining DNA molecules. The result of the site-specific recombination may be integration, excision, inversion or translocation of DNA sequences. Recently, site-specific recombination systems have been developed into genetic engineering tools for applications in biotechnology, experimental genetics, and potentially in genetic therapy. The most commonly used site-specific recombination systems for gene engineering include FLP-FRT, Cre-Lox and CRISPR-Cas9. RGBiotech offers a series of plasmids that can be used in the field of site-specific recombination. We also provide custom construction services to meet the different demands of our customers. |
