INTRODUCTION

Sterol regulatory element binding transcription factor 1 (SREBF1), also known as Sterol regulatory element-binding protein 1 (SREBP1), is a basic helix-loop-helix-leucine zipper (bHLH-Zip) transcription factor that regulates the sterol biosynthesis pathway. Before entering the nucleus, SREBF1 is cleaved to its mature form that can recognize the sterol regulatory element-1 (SRE1) located in the promoter region of target genes. RGBiotech offers multiple types of pSREBF1/RE-Reporter plasmids that contains multiple tandem repeats of SREBF1 binding sites upstream of a reporter gene driven by a basal / minimal promoter. Our pSREBF1/RE-Reporter plasmids can be used in monitoring SREBF1 activities, screening of SREBF1 activitors / inhibitors / homologs, studying regulatory mechanism of SREBF1 gene expression, by simply detecting reporter gene expression after delivery of the plasmid into target cells.
