INTRODUCTION RE1 silencing transcription factor (REST), also known as Neuron-Restrictive Silencer Factor (NRSF), is a transcription factor that represses expression of neural genes in non-neuronal cells. Target genes of REST protein have the neuron-restrictive silencer element (NRSE), also termed as RE1, at the promoter region. RGBiotech offers multiple types of pREST/RE-Reporter plasmids that contains multiple tandem repeats of REST binding sites upstream of a reporter gene driven by a basal / minimal promoter. Our pREST/RE-Reporter plasmids can be used in monitoring REST activities, screening of REST activitors / inhibitors / homologs, studying regulatory mechanism of REST gene expression, by simply detecting reporter gene expression after delivery of the plasmid into target cells.
